Mr. Shamsher Punia started his career as a Police Officer in Gujarat cadre, which he served with integrity and passion.
With the reputation of being a trendsetter, innovator, robust, upright and strong administrator,
he was handpicked by Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers Ltd.
(GNFC) to be the Head of their Vigilance, Intelligence and Security Departments as well as Liaisoning with Govt. departments.
At GNFC, apart from his other assignments, he was the Chief architect and instrumental in efficient handling of all labor strikes / problems.
There after he was handpicked as Project Coordinator and Head of HR and Admin.

After, that historical, violence & panic ridden Annual General Meeting of Reliance at Bombay the apprehensions were mounting
for the repeat of similar situation at Reliance’s, immediate, next AGM at Hazira (Gujarat).
Reliance’s top most management had a lot of faith in Mr. Punia’s professional competency & other capabilities.
To be sure of a magic outcome they out sourced total responsibility to him by asking him to take up complete
charge of conducting Reliance’s next AGM, incident free, at Hazira, Mr. Punia’s remarkable leadership and
resource management capabilities ensured that the entire process was incident free, to an utmost satisfaction of the Reliance management.
Mr. Punia was insisted upon by Reliance industries management to join them and head their vigilance, intelligence & security Depts.
The highlight of that offer was “for entire Vigilance, intelligence imputes, he was to report directly to Hon. Mr. Dhirubhai Ambani on day to day basis."
Mr. Punia did not take up that assignment due to his, other, more important, commitments.
